WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE SENATE DEMOCRATS?

It appears, today at least, that the Senate DEMOCRATS have all but killed the prospect of a health care reform bill with a strong (if any) public option. All in the name "bipartisanship." I have news for them: there is no hope of getting the Republicans to sign on to any health care reform legislation that is meaningful and effective for the middle and lower working classes.

I do not believe for a minute that the Senate Democrats truly believe they will attain a bipartisan agreement on meaningful and effective health care reform. It is quite obvious that such a thing is hopeless, given the fact that the Republicans have two intertwined goals:

1) to "break" President Obama -"If we are able to stop Obama on this it will be his Waterloo. It will break him." Senator Jim DeMint, R-S.C.; and

2) to regain control of Congress in 2010- "We can stall it. And that's going to be a huge gain for those of us who want to turn this thing over in the 2010 election;" and "If he is unsuccessful, which I anticipate and will predict he is, on getting a vole prior to the August recess, then I would say there's no way in the world they're going to get this done this year. And next year would not be any easier." Senator Jim Inhofe, R-OK.

So, why are the Senate Democrats being such obstructionists to REAL health care reform?? Why are they, of all people, playing into the hands of the Republicans? Is it because Senator Harry Reid is a spineless, ineffective majority leader? Are these Senators too indebted to the pharmacy and health insurance lobbies?

  1. If you think that any political official is voting "for" or "against" the health-care issues with your or my interest as an incentive, you are blind to the reality of our current government, past government and, likely, immediate future government. I have never been so unimpressed, disappointed and angry with these people (local, state and federal) as I am today..... and I am not referring to just the Obama ideologists. That includes the Bush's, the Clinton's, all of congress, the judiciary gaggle and most, if not all, of local government.

The health-care issue is a power play - big business verses big government - and the unions are playing both sides to be sure they get their share. The news companies and networks (all) only carry the sideline cheers and boo's. It has nothing to do with rising costs or covering the uninsured. It is 100% political and has nothing to do with public welfare. Just follow the money and self interests. It will become obvious to you. There are ways to address the uninsured and the rising costs without a trillion dollar price tag but that means addressing issues that are too politically uncomfortable for our elected congress (BOTH sides). What a shake-down and it is so sad. All the huffing and puffing is so that our elected officials can get re-elected..... and we pay them to do this?

Stop listening to the party lines and start thinking for yourself! Vote for issues that will limit terms, force balanced budgets and require real transparency. I would like to meet just one government official that I could trust with my tax dollars. Can you believe that we pay hard earned money for all this incompetence, finger pointing and deception?

Our democracy is a joke and our governing leadership becomes a bigger joke with every election. This country is going down in flames and, unless we start getting responsible people into office, we will quickly become a third rate nation speaking Chinese, Arabic or Spanglish with no money, no freedoms and constant fear. If that is what you want, just keep letting our elected bozo's continue thinking for you. I am just as guilty - but that has all changed.

I am embarrassed that my voting history has supported some of the biggest crooks of public trust and funds. Of course, it is likely that my voting history only supported a particular individual where all the choices were equally bad - like the last presidencial race.

It is time to change. Really change. And it needs to start by extracting the self-serving political base (both parties) currently festering and in-breeding at rates far more dangerous than H1N1. And, by the way, I hope you realize that the H1N1 government driven news is a distraction technique. I think the quote is "Never let a good crisis go to waste!"
